Onion

A stop-motion app: shoot frame by frame, with onion skinning to guide every movement.

Onion is a web app for amateur stop motion: you photograph a scene frame by frame with a phone or a webcam, edit the film, then export it as a video, a GIF or images to take into other software. Its main tool is onion skinning, which gives it its name: the previous photos show through on top of the camera so you can place the next movement precisely. A phone on a tripod can also act as the computer’s camera, linked directly over the same Wi-Fi network. No account: the photos stay on the device, nothing is sent elsewhere, and the app can be installed on the home screen like an app.
